The cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in South Africa is 690 896.
To date, 4 388 171 tests have been conducted since the pandemic started. 28 066 new tests were conducted since the last report.
Unfortunately, COVID-19 related deaths have increased by 126. Which brings the total number of deaths due to COVID-19 to 17 673.
Fortunately the number of recoveries have also risen and now stand at 622 153, with a recovery rate of 90%.

The cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in South Africa is 688 532.
To date, 4 360 105 tests have been conducted since the pandemic started. 20 419 new tests were conducted since the last report.
Unfortunately, COVID-19 related deaths have increased by 139. Which brings the total number of deaths due to COVID-19 to 17 547.
Fortunately the number of recoveries have also risen and now stand at 620 081, with a recovery rate of 90%.

1736 new cases have been recorded in South Africa, which increases the confirmed COVID-19 cases to 686 891.
The number of COVID-19 related deaths have increased by 160. Eastern Cape have reported a further 18 deaths, Kwazulu-Natal 105, Free State 6, Limpopo 6, Mpumalanga 4, Western Cape 8, and Gauteng 13.
Which brings the total deaths to 17 408.
Recoveries now stand at 618 771, with a recovery rate of 90%.

As of today, South Africa has recorded 685 155 confirmed COVID-19 cases. With 23 583 new tests conducted since the last report.
Unfortunately the number of COVID-19 related deaths has increased by 145, bringing the total to 17 248.
However on a more positive note, recoveries have also increased and now stand at 618 127.

After 4 294 931 tests conducted in total, South Africa now has a total of 683 242 confirmed cases of Covid-19. 1027 of these cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours.
The death toll from Covid-19 stands at 17 103, an increase of 87 deaths since yesterday’s update.
Recoveries are now at 616 857 and active cases are at 49 282.

Minister Zweli Mkhize stated, “As of today, a cumulative total of 682 215 confirmed COVID-19 cases in South Africa have been recorded with 926 new cases identified … we report 40 more COVID-19 related deaths … This brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths to 17 016.”
Active cases in the country stands at 49 515.
To date, 4 280 340 tests have been conducted.

It has been reported that 1573 new COVID-19 cases have been recorded, which brings the total to 681 289.
The total number of tests conducted is 4 269 626 with 18 113 new tests conducted since the last report.
Unfortunately, the number of COVID-19 related deaths have risen by 38, with 1 from the Western Cape and 37 from Gauteng. Bringing the COVID-19 death total to 16 976.
However, the number of recoveries have also increased to 614 781 making the recovery rate 90%.

It has been reported that 1767 new COVID-19 cases have been recorded, which brings the total to 674 339.
The total number of tests conducted is 4 187 917 with 23 426 new tests conducted since the last report.
Unfortunately, the number of COVID-19 related deaths have risen by 67, with 9 from the Western Cape, 11 from Gauteng, 3 Eastern Cape, 7 from Free State and 37 from KwaZulu-Natal. Bringing the COVID-19 death total to 16 734.
However, on a lighter note the number of recoveries have also increased to 608 112 with a recovery rate of 90%.

Confirmed SA COVID-19 cases now stands at 672 572.
Since the last report, 12 011 new tests were conducted.
COVID-19 related deaths have risen up to 16 667. There were 81 new deaths recorded, 8 from Eastern Cape, 5 from the Free State, 8 from North West, 28 from Gauteng, 11 from KwaZulu-Natal, 5 in Limpopo, 10 from Northern Cape, and 6 from Western Cape.
Fortunately, recoveries have increased to 606 520.

Minister Zweli Mkhize stated, “As of today, the cumulative number of detected COVID19 cases is 671 669 with 903 new cases identified since the last report”.
… we report 188 more COVID19 related deaths: 3 from Eastern Cape,1 from Kwazulu-Natal, 2 from Gauteng, 4 from Western Cape and 178 from the Free State. This brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths to 16 586″.

1346 new cases have been recorded in South Africa, which increases the confirmed COVID-19 cases to 663 282.
The number of COVID-19 related deaths have increased by 126. Eastern Cape have reported a further 5 deaths, Kwazulu-Natal 54, Western Cape 17, North West 5 and Gauteng 45.
Which brings the total deaths to 16 118.
Recoveries now stand at 592 904 with a recovery rate of 89,4%.

As of today, a cumulative total of 661 936 confirmed COVID-19 cases in South Africa have been recorded.
39 new deaths have been recorded – 9 from Eastern Cape, 9 from Gauteng, 1 from KwaZulu Natal, 4 from Western Cape, 16 from North West. This means we have 15 992 cumulative deaths now recorded.
We convey our condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thank the health care workers who treated the deceased.

Regrettably, we report a further 142 new Covid-19 related deaths – 4 from Eastern Cape, 12 from Gauteng, 16 from Kwazulu-Natal, 13 from Western Cape, 11 from Northern Cape, 19 from Mpumalanga and 67 from Limpopo. This brings the total deaths to 15 641.,

The death toll from Covid-19 stands at 15 427, an increase of 49 deaths since yesterday’s update.
Recoveries are now at 576 423 and active cases are at 56 364.
South Africa has a recovery rate of 88,9%.
Health Minister, Zweli Mkhize, has said, “we cautiously but optimistically breathe a sigh of relief as we continue to see our detected cases, hospital admissions, deaths and even excess deaths declining. Our recovery rate is now almost at 90% and our mortality rate has remained stable at around 2%.”

Since the last report, South Africa’s total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases increased to 646 398, with an increase of 1 960 new cases.

Regrettably, the number of COVID-19 related deaths has risen to 15 378.

A total of 642 431 confirmed COVID-19 cases has been recorded in South Africa.
Since the last report, 21 736 new tests have been conducted.
Unfortunately the number of COVID-19 related deaths have increased by 82, bringing the total to 15 168.
The number of recoveries have also increased to 569 935 with a recovery rate of 88,7%.

Minister Mkhize confirms, “As of today, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases is 640 441, the total number of deaths is 15 086 and the total number of recoveries is 567 729.”
82 new Covid-19 related deaths have been reported: 9 from Eastern Cape, 15 from Gauteng, 27 from Kwazulu-Natal, 20 from Western Cape, 5 from Northern Cape and 6 from Free State.
1079 new cases were recorded in the last 24 hours.
The recovery rate currently stands at 88,6%.
“The total number of tests conducted to date is 3 821 162 with 12 213 new tests conduced since the last report,” read a statement released by the Health Department.

Health Minister, Zweli Mkhize, said, “the numbers are reducing. We are not over the worst yet, we are worrying about the resurgence. Globally, we are now at number 7, this tells us 2 things – 1 the numbers are declining in SA, 2 Globally the numbers are still increasing.”
He also said that South Africa is not ready to open everything immediately but that we are moving in that direction. There are still a number of issues that need to be looked at such as immunity, studies on the climate and COVID19 surviving in saliva and demographics, said Mkhize, but research is happening on all of this.

The cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in South Africa is 635 078.
To date, 3 765 700 tests have been conducted since the pandemic started. 18 599 new tests were conducted since the last report.
Unfortunately, COVID-19 related deaths have increased by 115. Which brings the total number of deaths due to COVID-19 to 14 678.
Fortunately the number of recoveries have also risen and now stand at 557 818, with a recovery rate of 88%.
South Africa has dropped from 5th place, in the world COVID-19 ranking system, to 7th position, which is a very positive thing for our country.
Being placed lower on the ranking system indicates that South Africa has less confirmed cases than a few weeks ago.

As of today, a cumulative total of 633 015 confirmed COVID-19 cases in South Africa have been recorded with 2420 new cases identified.
The total number of tests conducted to date is 3 747 101 with 20 380 new tests conducted since the last report.
Regrettably, we report 174 more COVID-19 related deaths: 39 from Kwazulu-Natal, 50 from Gauteng, 24 from Eastern Cape, 8 from Free State, 17 from Western Cape, 9 from North West and 27 from Mpumalanga. This brings the total number of deaths to 14 563.
Our recoveries now stand at 554 887 which translates to a recovery rate of 88%.

Minister Zweli Mkhize stated, “As of today, the total number of confirmed COVID19 cases is 615 701, the total number of deaths is 13 502 and total number of recoveries is 525 242.”
Within 24 hours, 2684 new cases were confirmed while active cases in the country stands at 76 947.
To date, 3 598 973 tests have been conducted.
Friday March 20th
There are now 202 cases of the Coronavirus which has been declared a national disaster by President Cyril Ramaphosa. Globally, there are now 247,595 confirmed cases of COVID-19, and 10,064 deaths. The virus has spread to 182 countries/territories.
Among the new cases in the country is a 2-year-old boy from the Western Cape who has not travelled internationally. This is the youngest confirmed case.
“It is notable that there are eight cases of local transmission,” said the Minister in a statement.
There are 14 new cases in Gauteng:
-A 45 year-old male who had travelled to Belgium, UK, France and the US
-A 37 year-old male who had travelled to the UK
-A 54 year-old female who had travelled to the USA
-A 52 year-old male who had travelled to the UK
-A 25 year-old male who travelled to the UK
-A 52 year-old female who had travelled to Italy
-A 59 year-old male who travelled to the UK and Dubai
-A 57 year-old male who travelled to the USA
-A 60 year-old male who travelled to the USA
-A 37 year-old female who travelled to Italy and Dubai
-A 21 year-old female with no travel history
-A 34 year-old male with no international travel history
-A 26 year-old female with no international travel history
-A 32 year-old female with no international travel history
There are four new cases in KwaZulu-Natal:
-A 48 year-old male who travelled to Dubai
-A 59 year-old female with no international travel history
-A 5 year-old male with no international travel history
-A 3 year-old male with no international travel history
There are five new cases in the Western Cape:
-A 3 year-old male who travelled to the UK
-A 58 year-old male who travelled to the UK and Austria
-A 2 year-old male with no international travel
-A 62 year-old female who travelled to the UK and Ethiopia
-A 71 year-old female who travelled to the UK
The Minister said there was a debate with clinicians, epidemiologists, virologists on when government must release results to the public.
“These experts raised an issue of an ethical obligation to immediately alert patients as soon as the results become available.
“This therefore means that by the time a confirmation test is conducted in public laboratories, patients would have been notified of their initial results. This clarification is important because as government, we had announced to the public that all positive results will be verified through our public laboratories and the NICD,” explained the Minister.
He said in an effort to ensure transparency, government had decided to release results as they are submitted by both public and private labs.
“In instances where our confirmation tests give contrary results, we will inform the public, make reference to that specific result previously announced and give the outcome of the confirmation results.
“Whilst we respect that private laboratories have the capacity to test and on their own issue results, our intention and approach is to ensure that there is credibility in the information and results given to the public.“Whilst we appreciate the importance of being transparent with South Africans, we will not do so irresponsibly and not take into account all clinical and any other broader implications of the information we give to you,” he said.
Repatriated South Africans
Mkhize further announced that the South Africans who were repatriated from Wuhan City, in China have tested negative for COVID-19. The group arrived in South Africa on Saturday and are in quarantine at The Ranch Hotel in Limpopo.
“It gives us great pleasure to also announce to South Africans that all the citizens from Wuhan were tested and their results came back negative for COVID-19. We continue to keep them in quarantine for the prescribed period and will thereafter initiate the process of reunifying them with the community,” said the Minister.
