The Matric Class of 2020 had to deal with many challenges this year. They lost class time due to the nationwide lockdown and had the pressure of preparing for a rewrite.
Two matric students, Kgonagalo Mphuthi and Azikile Mathule were interviewed by eNCA, to find out what they experienced this year.
Mphuthi alsok Pure Mathematics as a subject, so she experienced lots of pressure when she heard about the rewrite of the leaked papers. However, she continued to stay positive and hoped that the decision would be overturned.
And fortunately, the decision to have a national rewrite was overturned.
Mathule alsok Mathematical Literacy, so she did not have to worry about a rewrite, however, she did experience a tough year like all the other learners.
The matric year is when learners make memories with their friends and enjoy the last chapter of their high school careers.
The beginning of the year started well with learners feeling hopeful and looking forward to their matric dance and graduating. Unfortunately, they did not have their matric dance due to COVID-19 and they also spent most of their Grade 12 year learning from home.
