Knowing how to complete your NSFAS application correctly and what to submit is of utomast importance when planning your tertiary future.

Those individuals applying to NSFAS for funding for the next academic year are urged to remember that should they be submitting a copy of their SMART ID, you will then need to upload a clear copy of both sides of your ID through your myNSFAS account.

Please note that NSFAS does not accept emailed or posted applications.

Another thing to remember is that when applying for NSFAS 2021 funding, you do not need to provide a separate consent form. NSFAS has removed this requirement as a way to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Did you know that you have more options and can apply for a NSFAS bursary at Teachers’ Centres? Well, now you know. “These centres are also available to use for free for grade nine pupils who have an interest in studying at any Technical and Vocational Education and Training colleges. Out of school youth who require funding can also use these centres,” said Spokesperson for NSFAS, Phatisa Ntlonze.

You can now also apply for NSFAS funding in 2021 at National Youth Development Agency centres across South Africa. NSFAS has entered into partnership with the NYDA to use their centres to assist applicants who have not yet applied, especially those who do not have internet access and those in rural areas.

The centres are open every Monday to Friday during office hours.

You qualify for this academic bursary if you are a South African citizen with a houeshold income of not more than R350 000 per year, or R122 000 per year if you started studying at university before 2018. For students with a disability, the combined annual household income of not more than R600 000 per annum.
