Unfortunately, COVID-19 related deaths have increased by 154. Which brings the total number of deaths due to COVID-19 to 23 106.
Fortunately the number of recoveries have also risen and now stand at 760 118.

Since the last report, South Africa’s total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases increased to 836 764, with an increase of 8166 new cases.
To date, the number of tests conducted now stands at 5 735 470, with 45 207 new tests being conducted.
Regrettably, the number of COVID-19 related deaths has risen to 22 747.
However, so have the recoveries, which now stands at 756 671.
Today, we wish to reiterate our plea to South Africans to heed the threat of the rising numbers of COVID-19 cases identified. There is clear evidence of an exponential rise in transmission and this is cause for serious concern.

South Africa’s total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases increases to 828 598 with 6709 new cases in the last 24 hours.
To date, 22 574 COVID-19 related deaths were reported.
Recoveries have risen to 754 658.

4116 new cases have been recorded in South Africa, which increases the confirmed COVID-19 cases to 814 565.
The number of COVID-19 related deaths have increased by 139. Eastern Cape have reported a further 124 deaths, Western Cape 14, and Gauteng 1.
Which brings the total deaths to 22 206.
Recoveries now stand at 744 780.

Unfortunately the number of COVID-19 related deaths have increased to 21 709, with 65 new deaths.
On the other hand, recoveries have fortunately also increased to 734 305.

It has been reported that 3069 new COVID-19 cases have been recorded, which brings the total to 778 571.

Unfortunately, the number of COVID-19 related deaths have risen by 88, with 18 from the Western Cape, 33 from Eastern Cape, 25 from Free State, 2 from Kwazulu-Natal, 5 from Limpopo and 5 from Gauteng. Bringing the COVID-19 death total to 21 289.

It has been reported that 2493 new COVID-19 cases have been recorded, which brings the total to 772 252.
The total number of tests conducted is 5 325 631 with 20 288 new tests conducted since the last report.
Unfortunately, the number of COVID-19 related deaths have risen by 115, with 16 from the Western Cape, 19 from Gauteng, 45 Eastern Cape, 20 from Free State, 5 from the Northern Cape and 10 from KwaZulu-Natal. Bringing the COVID-19 death total to 21 083.
However, on a lighter note the number of recoveries have also increased to 716 444 with a recovery rate of 92,8%.

COVID-19 related deaths have risen up to 20 968. There were 65 new deaths recorded, 26 from Eastern Cape, 19 from the Free State, 8 from North West, 2 from Gauteng, 3 from Limpopo and 7 from Western Cape.

As of today, a cumulative total of 728 836 confirmed Covid-19 cases in South Africa have been recorded.
They report a further 74 new Covid-19 related deaths – 35 from Eastern Cape, 6 from the Free State, 8 from Gauteng, 6 from Kwazulu-Natal, 11 from Western Cape and 8 from Northern Cape This brings the total deaths to 19 539.

Minister Mkhize confirms, “As of today, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases is 716 759, the total number of deaths is 19 008 and the total number of recoveries is 646 721.”
40 new Covid-19 related deaths have been reported: 8 from Eastern Cape, 4 from Gauteng, 1 from Kwazulu-Natal, 4 from Mpumalanga, 16 from North West and 7 from Western Cape.
891 new cases were recorded in the last 24 hours.
The recovery rate currently stands at 90%.
“The cumulative number of tests conducted to date is 4 709 403 with 11 464 new tests conduced since the last report,” read a statement released by the Health Department.

Regrettably, we report 85 more COVID-19 related deaths today. This brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths to 18 741. Of the 85 deaths reported today, 8 occurred in the past 48 hours.

SA confirmed COVID-19 cases now stand at 705 254.
16 502 new tests were conducted since the last report.
Recoveries have increased to 635 257, with a recovery rate of 90%.
Deaths however have also risen in number, 18 492 COVID-19 related deaths in total.
However, the Department has has to clarify an error which was made yesterday and said, “Yesterday, we reported a cumulative total of 3176 deaths for Kwazulu-Natal. We wish to correct this. This was a typographical error which occurred when the total number was recorded, following verification. We therefore confirm that yesterday’s total number of deaths for Kwazulu-Natal was 3135. This means that the total number of deaths nationally for 18 October 2020 was 18 431. We apologise for this error.”

Unfortunately, COVID-19 related deaths have increased by 38. Which brings the total number of deaths due to COVID-19 to 18 408.
Fortunately the number of recoveries have also risen and now stand at 630 436, with a recovery rate of 90%.
Friday March 20th
There are now 202 cases of the Coronavirus which has been declared a national disaster by President Cyril Ramaphosa. Globally, there are now 247,595 confirmed cases of COVID-19, and 10,064 deaths. The virus has spread to 182 countries/territories.
Among the new cases in the country is a 2-year-old boy from the Western Cape who has not travelled internationally. This is the youngest confirmed case.
“It is notable that there are eight cases of local transmission,” said the Minister in a statement.
There are 14 new cases in Gauteng:
-A 45 year-old male who had travelled to Belgium, UK, France and the US
-A 37 year-old male who had travelled to the UK
-A 54 year-old female who had travelled to the USA
-A 52 year-old male who had travelled to the UK
-A 25 year-old male who travelled to the UK
-A 52 year-old female who had travelled to Italy
-A 59 year-old male who travelled to the UK and Dubai
-A 57 year-old male who travelled to the USA
-A 60 year-old male who travelled to the USA
-A 37 year-old female who travelled to Italy and Dubai
-A 21 year-old female with no travel history
-A 34 year-old male with no international travel history
-A 26 year-old female with no international travel history
-A 32 year-old female with no international travel history
There are four new cases in KwaZulu-Natal:
-A 48 year-old male who travelled to Dubai
-A 59 year-old female with no international travel history
-A 5 year-old male with no international travel history
-A 3 year-old male with no international travel history
There are five new cases in the Western Cape:
-A 3 year-old male who travelled to the UK
-A 58 year-old male who travelled to the UK and Austria
-A 2 year-old male with no international travel
-A 62 year-old female who travelled to the UK and Ethiopia
-A 71 year-old female who travelled to the UK
The Minister said there was a debate with clinicians, epidemiologists, virologists on when government must release results to the public.
“These experts raised an issue of an ethical obligation to immediately alert patients as soon as the results become available.
“This therefore means that by the time a confirmation test is conducted in public laboratories, patients would have been notified of their initial results. This clarification is essential because as government, we had announced to the public that all positive results will be verified through our public laboratories and the NICD,” explained the Minister.
He said in an effort to ensure transparency, government had decided to release results as they are submitted by both public and private labs.
“In instances where our confirmation tests give contrary results, we will inform the public, make reference to that specific result previously announced and give the outcome of the confirmation results.
“Whilst we respect that private laboratories have the capacity to test and on their own issue results, our intention and approach is to ensure that there is credibility in the information and results given to the public.“Whilst we appreciate the importance of being transparent with South Africans, we will not do so irresponsibly and not take into account all clinical and any other broader implications of the information we give to you,” he said.
Repatriated South Africans
Mkhize further announced that the South Africans who were repatriated from Wuhan City, in China have tested negative for COVID-19. The group arrived in South Africa on Saturday and are in quarantine at The Ranch Hotel in Limpopo.
“It gives us great pleasure to also announce to South Africans that all the citizens from Wuhan were tested and their results came back negative for COVID-19. We continue to keep them in quarantine for the prescribed period and will thereafter initiate the process of reunifying them with the community,” said the Minister.
