On Monday, two bogus medical suspects appeared at Butterworth Magistrates’ Court.
Josiah Kizito and his wife Henrietta Mukengeshayi are accused of violating the Health Professions Act, fraud, forgery, money laundering and profusion.
Kizito began operating the practice in January 2019 at Butterworth’s Bongalo Mall and charged a consultation fee of R250 for each patient.
Their clients were mostly retirees from the communities of Butterworth, Dutywa, Willowvale and Centana.
The suspects were also reportedly charged with fraudulent sickness certificates and released drugs, including injections, without the necessary qualifications and license.
The court gave the couple a bail of R50,000 each and the case was adjourned to November.
