Anti-Gang Unit members have apprehended a woman in Kraaifontein after she was discovered to have a weapon linked to the murder of an 11-year old boy in her possession.
On Tuesday afternoon, Duran Visagie was hit in the head by a stray bullet in Scottsdene. He later succumbed to death in hospital.
Investigations have also help lead the police to the arrest of two men who are faced with charges related to murder.
During the early hours of Friday morning, Anti-Gang Unit detectives followed through a trace and apprehended two boys within the age of 17 and 18 who are linked to the death of Visagie.
When detectives asked the suspects some questions, they directed the authorities to the location of the murder weapon.
“They went to search the residence of one of the suspect’s girlfriend in Yvonne Street, Scottsdene, Kraaifontein and found the firearm, a 9mm Norinco pistol with 26 rounds, hidden underneath the wendy house,” said the police’s Frederick Van Wyk.
The woman is expected to come before the Blue Downs Magistrates Court soon, on charges in connection to the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
