Summer is just around the corner, so it’s time to start thinking about all the fun stuff you’ll be doing with your boyfriend throughout this season of warm lazy days that seem to never end. In these three months you have at least 12 weekends, plus vacations, so that’s plenty of time to fill up. Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered with our guaranteed fun list of things to do this summer.
Spontaneous Things To Do With Your Boyfriend This Summer Weekend
It’s summertime: warm days, cloudless skies and loads of sunlight make you go outside and just enjoy being out. It’s time for barbecues and picnics, beach, pool and water sports, but also time to go adventuring and exploring new things. Grab your boyfriend, maybe throw in a couple of friends, and just follow your instincts. Being spontaneous is never synonym with being unprepared, though, so make sure you’ve got all the necessities covered beforehand. In order to start planning ahead here’s a list of fun things to do on the weekend.
1. Go Hiking/Geocaching
There’s no better way to welcome summer than hiking up a trail. Check online the trails available in the area, taking into consideration the length and the level of difficulty. Find the perfect trail for both of you and go for it. Remember to pack plenty of water, light snacks, and sunscreen.
Alternatively, you can go geocaching, a sort of scavenger hunt using a GPS, compass, map of the area and specific coordinates. The objective is to find hidden caches, usually in QRCode form, but sometimes you can also find hidden treasures (a book, toy, etc). Take a look at geocaching.com and off you go!
2. Lazy River Tubing
If you happen to have a small river or creek near you, or within comfortable driving distance, this is a must-do. Whiling away a summer afternoon on a comfy flotation device, down a lazy river is one of the best possible things to do with a boyfriend in summer, or even early fall if you live in a warmer climate. Stock up on sunscreen, some choice beverages, maybe a light snack, grab your bathing suits and flotation devices and just sit back and relax. Perfect!
3. Go Camping in the Wilderness
Unplug for a couple of days and enjoy all that Mother Nature has to offer by going camping. Eschew organized and crowded camping parks and head out to the wilderness for a fun and exciting adventure with your boyfriend. Stick to National Parks or be sure to ask permission from landowners beforehand to avoid any inconvenience, pick up a tent and supplies and just go.
4. Gone Fishing
As long as you are out there in the wilderness, why don’t you give fly fishing a try? The peace and tranquillity of river scenery, together with the challenge of catching lunch might prove both invigorating and fun. Consider renting your equipment beforehand, and happy fishing.
5. Go to an Amusement Park
Remember back when you were young when summer seemed to last forever and an outing for the amusement park was the highlight of your holidays? Take a trip down memory lane and get reacquainted with the roller coaster, the shooting galleries, and the cotton candy. Grab your boyfriend and spend an afternoon or an evening screaming your heart out and tying your stomach into knots, but all the while having a riot.
6. Take to the Waters
Summer screams for water activities, so take a walk on the wild side and experiment with new water activities. Do some surfing, sea kayaking, stand-up paddling, water-skiing, kite-surfing, whatever, as long as it is a novelty for both of you and have a blast learning something new. Or, if you are feeling less adventurous, simply enjoy some quieter water activities, like paddleboat, or rafting, that also provide fun-filled time but less adrenaline.
Fun Things to Do with Your Boyfriend at Home
Who says you have to go anywhere to have fun? Staying at home, when it is scorching hot outside might be just the thing to do. Taking a break from all the outings can be equally fun as long as you keep things going. To get you in the mood, check out the activities we have lined up for you.
7. Fire Pit Night Out
If you are looking for a good time, just head out to your own backyard, grab a few marshmallows and cookies for that all-important ‘ smores, cold beers, or a nice bottle of wine, and some blankets and cozy up by the fire. If you don’t have a fire pit in the backyard, a few fairy lights and some tiki lanterns can help in creating a romantic atmosphere, and you can always use the barbecue or an electric heater for extra warmth, or simply snuggle closer together under the blankets.
8. Going Gourmet
Are Tv dinners, take out or just plain sandwich or cereal you’re usual go-to meals? How about going gourmet for an evening and preparing a fancy restaurant-worthy menu in the comfort of your own home. Though there are some great chefs available to come and cook for you, it might be funny and exciting making all the fine dining preparations all by yourself. Set a formal dining table, complete with candles and a flower arrangement, play some background music and prepare a three-course gourmet dinner together. Open a nice bottle of wine, or two, and enjoy. Consider making the evening even more memorable by dressing up for dinner.
Make an evening or a whole weekend more exciting by role-playing. Make up whole personas for the both of you, dress and act accordingly and use your imagination in creating scenarios in and out of the bedroom. Pretend you are a mysterious secret agent, or an alluring foreign queen, a hunky superhero, or a French chambermaid, in a word, play out your biggest fantasies and unleash new levels of intimacy and pleasure.

11. Reach for the Sky
Take birthday celebrations to new heights by organizing a whimsical ride on a hot air balloon. This romantic and exhilarating ride is sure to please one and all, and it will definitely create a great memory. If a balloon ride is too tame for your significant other, why not go for an airplane or helicopter flying lesson, or a hang-gliding flight. The sky is the limit, here.
12. Summer Music Festival
Summer is the time for fun outdoors, and where better to have fun than to do to a summer music festival. The powerful music, the strobing lights, the amazing people, the energizing atmosphere: what’s not to love? Have a look at all the possibilities, both at home and abroad, select the music style your birthday boy is crazy about, and surprise him with a couple of tickets. Talk about creating memories: that’s one you won’t forget.
Fun Things to Do with Your Boyfriend in the Winter
There’s fun to be had any time of year, so don’t let the cold and dreary days stop you. Maybe water sports should make room for skiing or ice-skating unless you are lucky enough to live in a more tropical setting. Indoor activities are probably better for this time of year, however, the suggestions we leave you with would also work to avoid scorching summer sun, so have a look.
13. Escape Room
What say you to be locked up for an evening with your special someone? Escape room experiences provide clues to solve riddles and outwit villains while throwing in a couple of zombies, vampires, ghosts and the like. The objective is to unravel the mystery and find the key that unlocks the room within a given set of time, so put your sleuthing skills to the test and spend a fun-filled evening trying to escape.
14. Murder Mystery Dinner
Another great idea for a great evening with your boyfriend alone or with a party of friends is joining a Murder Mystery Dinner. You will be a witness or prime suspect in a challenging crime and while feasting on a gourmet dinner, you’ll use your crime-solving abilities to discover the culprit. You can also hire some companies for private parties, and get kits and host the murder mystery dinner at your own home. Find some free here.
15. Movie Marathon
First of all, create the perfect list of movies for a marathon. Either pick your favorites, or then films you have never seen, or you can even decide on a theme, such as Love Conquers All and try to find as many movies as possible from different genres (Sci-fi, War, Western, Horror, Musical, Comedy, etc.) Rent or download your selection, grab some munchies, and spend an evening (or a weekend, for that matter) curled up together under the throw.
Regardless of what you do, the most important thing is that you get to spend quality time together, enjoying each other’s company, and having a great time. Sometimes in the big scheme of things we forget that life is but a collection of moments, and memorable moments together are all it takes to be happy.
