– Richard Ofori and Rushine De Reuck were reportedly on their way out of Maritzburg United
– Reports surfaced that the two stars were on their way to Orlando Pirates
– The club started to refute the claims, but fans aren’t buying it
Reports emerged saying that Maritzburg United had reached an agreement on the departure of two of their stars.
The claim was that Richard Ofori and Rushine De Reuck were on their way to the Buccaneers, but the report may have been far-fetched.
Maritzburg United issued a strong statement on Thursday to refute the claims and stated that the reports are entirely unsubstantiated and false.
The KwaZulu-Natal-based side added that the news had unsettled the players and their families.
Club Chairman Farook Kadodia called for common sense to prevail.
The statement was shared via Twitter and attracted a tremendous response.
Based on the reaction, it seems many feel that the move is inevitable and that it will officially be announced at the end of the season.
Twitter user @Matt___007 said,
“Oksalayo we want ofori and we will not rest until we get him.”
Rutz Keith (@RutzKeith) added,
“We don’t care…we want these boys n we will get them.”
SIFUNDO APRIL (@SifundoApril) felt that history would repeat itself:
“It not a false statement but denial from y’all, sooner or later obvious they will be sold. Y’all said the same about Maboe, Ndlovu, Rusike, Makaringe before at the end all were sold to their respective teams.”
Thamsanqa Ka’Mkuyane (@thamsanqa_iam) responded,
“Argh! Give it a rest we all know that these players are going to [orlando pirates] come end of this season.”
