When you find yourself on the best binge watching series, and your favorite TV shows, it’s possible to still develop yourself. Here’s how.
Develop yourself while binge watching TV shows? Is this possible? Absolutely! Many TV teach us life lessons through the characters. These life lessons teach us about friendship, relationships, how to deal with failure and challenges – amongst many others. While you are snuggled up on the couch with remote in hand, make sure you watch a few of these TV shows and perhaps learn a few of these important life lessons.
1. Keep Trying: The Office
The Office is both hilarious and relatable. It is a satirical documentary style series which follows the lives of typical office workers, their relationships and their daily struggles. The Office teaches us that work relationships are difficult and can often cause tension, however it is important to manage work-related (or school related) conflicts carefully and sensitively. The Office also teaches us, that like Michael Scott (Steve Carell), things don’t always go according to plan, so keep your chin up and try anyway! Like his famous line says: “you just gots to get your freak on”.
2. Be Yourself – Unashamedly: New Girl
New Girl is a hilarious comedy series about a group of roommates: Nick, Schmidt, Winston and the new girl: Jess (Zoe Deschanel). Jess is an awkward and adorable teacher who reminds us to embrace our quirks, no matter how strange they might seem. Don’t hide the awkward parts of yourself because you’re afraid. Embrace them and you’ll learn that people will love your quirks. By embracing your true self, you inadvertently tell the people around you that you will accept their quirks too. If you love to knit, join a knitting club and do your thing! Jess, Nick, Schmidt and Winston remind us that we are all a bit weird and this is what makes life and friendship exciting.
