In an interview with Drum magazine about Zodwa Wabantu Fragrance which included Chanel no. 5. How the fragrance has globe-trotted, having been produced in China, vetted in New York so that a quality, stylish final product could be brought to South African shores, courtesy of the queen of self – proclamation.
Zodwa Wabantu Fragrance has expressed that is a gift to South African women. An opportunity to celebrate them through her creativity. The fragrance is 100% owned by Zodwa and not a brand partnership she says. While she sorts expert advice and consults from the production company, she maintains that this fragrance is an extension of her.
Her initial idea was to launch an alcohol beverage but considering the catastrophic effects of alcohol on society, she decided against it.
She wanted something socially responsible but also that would make women feel great about themselves.
We are excited about this next chapter in Zodwa’s life and cannot wait to see how else she diversifies her creative portfolio.
